Initiatives
During the 2010-2011 year, the MYC began an annual youth midnight basketball tournament to combat violence and give kids an opportunity to spend a safe evening playing sports.
Other events are now being planned and the youth tournament is being scheduled for 2012.
Also, the MYC presented a proposal to the schoolboard for a ten-point grading scale in high schools. A sub-committee has been formed on the school board to consider this.
A new 'text-a-tutor' initiative has also begun so that students can text, call or email tutors at any time after school for help.
